As I mentioned on my main page, this past weekend, my wife JJ and I went down and enjoyed the Joelanta 2009 show. This was my very first GI Joe convention (or show), and I really didn't know what to expect. After everyone was checked in, we a lot of us gathered in the lounge for a GI Joe trivia game which was real fun. I was part of the winning team, however I didn't contribute any answers... Way to go Fuzzheads (Richard, Brian, Albert and Ralph).

From there, we all went down to see a small dealer preview and then watch a few Joe-movies which was hilarious. One of the movies was basically just all of these old GI Joe commercials which was a lot of fun to see.

Now it was time for E.J.'s Lobby Swap. Basically people that had brought stuff gathered in the lobby to trade and sale off their stuff. This is where I scored a Joe with MK 47 and the two Zacca M203s. Next year, I'm definitely bringing my stuff....

So you are curious how to top this, how about a Joe-drop from 15 floors above... This was great, and once again, next year I'm bringing my Joe and chute.

The next morning was like Christmas in May for me, I couldn't wait for the doors to open. Also, I had purchased the Commander's Package so that JJ and I could go in at 9am instead of 10.

The first thing I wanted to check out was the "War of the World's" Diorama. I had met and talked with one of the creators, Mike the night before and I couldn't wait to see his work. All I can say is WOW! These guys have mad-crazy talent. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...enjoy.

Here are a few other dio's or scenes that I wanted to share.

This Sniper/Spotter team is amazing!

and now the figures....

*Check out the medical supplies... These were done by Elfbait from OSW.

And here's some pictures of the displays....

Well, all in all it was an amazing experience. I took $300 in cash with me and actually left with $65. However, I did pass on several boxed figures that I was interested in. One thing that did disappoint me was the lack of modern stuff available. There were a lot of great deals, you just had to look for them, and everyone was in the mood to chat and share information. I had a great time, and I am already looking forward to next years show...

GO JOE!!!!
